Issues & Values
I’m running for State Representative to serve my community as a voice of reason in Jefferson City; to protect the dignity and rights of all people; and inspire hope that Missouri is an ideal place to live, thrive, and grow.
Ballwin is my home. I was born and raised here, and I’m growing my own family here. I will work hard every day to make Missouri government work better for West County, for our region, and all across Missouri.
As a small business owner, I know firsthand the challenges in balancing budgets and making the tough decisions to serve your customers, supporting your employees, and having enough left to support your family and make it worthwhile.
As an Eagle Scout, I believe in giving back to my community. I will take my moral compass and passion for service with me to Jefferson City.
As a responsible gun owner, I believe Missouri needs common sense measures to make access to guns safer, while maintaining our second amendment rights.
With professional experience in healthcare, I understand the complexities of the industry and will work to increase our ability to provide healthcare coverage to as many people as possible and reduce fraud, waste, and abuse.
Most importantly, as a son, husband, and dad, I will fight for your family just as hard as I fight for mine. We want Missouri to be a safe place to raise our kids and start a business, enjoy good quality of life, and have access to quality schools.
I will use my experience, skill set, and voice to listen to and represent the people of District 100. People are sick and tired of harmful controversial legislation that scares away future residents and economic opportunities.
My stance on the issues…
Economic Growth
We should invest in Missouri’s future while keeping taxes as low as possible, with a fully balanced budget. This includes funding education and workforce development training, promoting innovation and technology advancement, and improving our infrastructure including transportation and broadband access.
Missouri is losing current business and future opportunities due to controversial legislation like abortion bans, anti-LGBTQ+ bills, and taking away the power of voters and giving more to the legislature.
I support legislation that will bring needed jobs, infrastructure, and growth to the state to keep our economy strong, diversify our economic base, and increase development.
My priorities to improve economic growth for Missourians:
- Expand workforce training and apprenticeships to better prepare Missourians for high-demand jobs, especially those that are in short supply and in sectors like advanced manufacturing, technology, skilled trades, and healthcare
- Offer fuel rebates or gas tax holidays to lower the cost of fuel and transportation
- Support affordable housing initiatives like tax credits for builders and developers that build affordable housing
- Expand First-time Homebuyer Assistance Programs including downpayment assistance programs, targeted loans and grants
- Provide property tax relief for seniors and working families to reduce housing costs
- Invest in infrastructure projects to create jobs and improve transportation for businesses
- Offer state-level tax incentives for small businesses and startups to grow local economies
- Encourage local food and retail markets through subsidies and grants to keep prices low for consumers
- Develop a state inflation relief program to help with rising costs for essentials like groceries and fuel
- Balance Missouri’s Budget to ensure spending doesn’t outpace revenues, reducing deficits and debt; maintain social services while driving efficient spending
- Encourage Domestic Production and local procurement by offering tax incentives or grants to manufacturers and agricultural producers within Missouri, reducing the reliance on imported goods and boosting our state economy
- Enhance Small Business Support through mentorship programs, incubators, and seed funding; offer tax relief for small businesses that reinvest in and support their workforce
Healthcare
Abortion care is health care and we must do everything possible to ensure all people have access to the safe and affordable care and resources they need to make informed decisions about their bodies, lives, and futures.
All Missourians have a right to affordable, decent heath care; we shouldn’t have to choose between life-saving medicine and paying rent. Healthcare providers should be able to compete without leaving the patient holding the bag.
We should continue to expand Medicaid coverage, expand access to mental health and substance abuse treatment programs, address health disparities based on social determinants of health, promote health equity, and encourage value-based care to improve health outcomes and reduce costs.
My priorities to improve healthcare for Missourians:
- Legalize abortion and protect reproductive health rights by supporting (vote yes on) Amendment 3, ensuring Missourians have the right to make decisions about their own bodies
- Ensure access to reproductive healthcare services by increasing clinic availability and defending against any future restrictions
- Expand Medicaid access and streamline the application process to ensure more Missourians can receive affordable healthcare
- Simplify healthcare bureaucracy by reducing paperwork and administrative burdens for patients and healthcare providers, improving access, and reducing costs
- Expand telemedicine services by removing regulatory barriers, allowing broader access to healthcare, especially for rural and underserved communities
- Increase funding for healthcare worker education and training to address staffing shortages and provide incentives for professionals to remain in Missouri
- Integrate physical and mental health services in healthcare settings, incentivizing providers to offer comprehensive care for both physical and mental well-being
- Expand mental health services for youth in schools by funding counselors and early intervention programs to address the mental health crisis
- Ensure mental health parity by mandating insurance companies provide sufficient coverage for mental health services as they do for physical health services
- Fund mental health crisis response teams to handle emergencies with trained professionals, reducing the burden on law enforcement and improving care for those in need
- Invest in preventive healthcare by funding public health campaigns that promote diet, exercise, smoking cessation, and other lifestyle changes to reduce long-term costs
- Offer loan forgiveness and higher wages for healthcare workers who serve in underserved areas, helping alleviate the healthcare worker shortage
- Fund programs for vulnerable populations such as long-term care for the elderly and services for people with disabilities, ensuring better access to critical healthcare
- Incentivize healthcare providers to work in rural areas by offering student loan forgiveness, tax credits, or other benefits to increase access in underserved regions
Education
We must fully fund public education and stop changing the formula to play politics. We need to pay our teachers and school staff more and create safe working and teaching environments.
Our tax dollars should go to schools that can be held accountable by publicly elected school boards. Vouchers and tax credits sound helpful, but actually defund public education.
We don’t need laws that revise or cover up the teaching of our history; we should teach our kids the skills they need to survive in the real world.
My priorities to improve education for Missourians:
- Ensure public dollars fund public schools by rejecting voucher programs and other mechanisms that divert public tax money to charter, religious, and private schools
- Increase teacher pay with full funding to prevent school districts from struggling to meet salary increases by appropriating sufficient state funds
- Incentivize teacher recruitment and retention through student loan forgiveness programs, housing assistance, scholarships, and other benefits to combat teacher shortages
- Stop book bans and defunding of public libraries, passing laws that ensure students and the public have access to a wide range of literature and information
- Teach comprehensive and accurate history education, with age-appropriate curriculum standards that include topics like civil rights movements, slavery, and difficult historical events
- Create a balanced curriculum that includes life skills and career readiness, preparing students for the future while ensuring mental, emotional, and academic success
- Protect publicly elected school boards and prevent efforts to take control away from local communities, keeping educational decisions local
- Expand mental health services in schools, providing funding for counselors, psychologists, and social-emotional learning programs that support students’ well-being
- Support emergency response preparedness in schools, including training for staff and students and access to crisis intervention services
- Develop partnerships with higher education and local communities to build teacher pipelines, ensuring a sustainable supply of qualified educators for Missouri schools
- Encourage schools to address student mental health proactively through early intervention programs and regular access to mental health professionals
- Promote transparency in school funding to ensure money is used efficiently, focusing on classroom resources, teacher salaries, and student services rather than administrative costs
- Reduce reliance on standardized testing by limiting its use in teacher evaluations and school funding, allowing teachers to focus more on holistic learning
- Fully fund special education services and reduce bureaucratic delays in providing IEP services, ensuring students with disabilities receive the support they need
- Protect educators’ autonomy by reducing political interference in curricula and allowing teachers to teach honestly and comprehensively without fear of reprisal
- Improve school safety by requiring schools to develop and implement comprehensive safety plans, invest in security infrastructure, and provide mental health support
Police Support & Criminal Justice Reform
We should NOT defund the police; I will listen to citizen and officer needs to actually make our streets safer.
We should equip our police with the tools they need to effectively enforce law and order and maintain public peace and safety, including paying better salaries for putting their lives on the line.
We should provide rehabilitation and opportunities for record-expungement instead of sending people to prison for non-violent drug offenses; pairing this with access to employment and housing helps break the cycle of poverty and incarceration.
My priorities to improve public safety for Missourians:
- Implement universal background checks for all gun purchases to prevent firearms from reaching dangerous individuals
- Enact red flag laws allowing law enforcement or family members to petition for the temporary removal of firearms from individuals posing a threat to themselves or others
- Promote safe storage laws that require secure storage of firearms, particularly in homes with children, with tax incentives for purchasing gun safes
- Invest in firearms education and training programs to promote responsible gun ownership and reduce accidental shootings
- Increase funding for police training and equipment, focusing on de-escalation tactics, mental health crisis response, and community policing
- Promote transparency in police accountability through body cameras, citizen oversight boards, and independent investigations of misconduct
- Incentivize community policing models to build relationships between law enforcement and residents, fostering cooperation and crime prevention
- Incentivize first responder recruitment with loan forgiveness, scholarships, and competitive wages in rural and underserved areas
- Improve emergency response infrastructure by upgrading 911 and communication systems and enhancing coordination between local, state, and federal agencies
- Increase support for domestic violence shelters and strengthen laws to protect survivors from abusers
- Invest in youth violence prevention programs that provide mentorship, conflict resolution training, and positive after-school activities
- Expand access to mental health and addiction services to divert individuals from the criminal justice system and reduce crime
- Reform sentencing guidelines for non-violent crimes to focus on rehabilitation and reduce recidivism, particularly for drug offenses
- Establish mental health support programs for first responders to address PTSD, depression, and suicide risks
Social Justice & Constitutional Rights for All
The LGBTQ+ community doesn’t need EXTRA treatment, but shouldn’t be singled out and fired, evicted, or denied service based on our gender or who we love.
Discriminatory legislation is BAD for business and our state. It is STILL legal to fire, evict, or deny services to someone based solely on their gender identity or sexual orientation. We need to close this discriminatory loophole.
Missouri is past-due in outlawing harmful discrimination aimed at LGBTQ+ people and families; I will continue to fight for passage of the Missouri Non-Discrimination Act (MONA) and will stand firmly against any attempts to take away the rights of our citizens.
My priorities to improve social justice and constitutional rights for all Missourians:
- LGBTQ+ Rights
- Protect Marriage Equality by passing legislation ensuring marriage equality is protected at the state level, regardless of any federal changes
- Ensure Access to LGBTQ+ Healthcare by mandating equal access to gender-affirming and comprehensive healthcare services, banning discrimination by healthcare providers
- Ban Conversion Therapy by outlawing the harmful practice of conversion therapy for minors to protect LGBTQ+ youth
- Expand Non-Discrimination Protections by passing comprehensive anti-discrimination laws that protect against bias in employment, housing, public accommodations, and education based on sexual orientation and gender identity
- Inclusive LGBTQ+ Education by allowing age-appropriate discussions of LGBTQ+ history and issues in schools to foster inclusion and respect
- Racial Equality
- Reform Criminal Justice by addressing racial disparities through reforming sentencing laws, eliminating cash bail for nonviolent offenses, and requiring racial data collection on arrests and convictions
- Increase Police Accountability by mandating body cameras, funding and promoting de-escalation training, and establishing independent civilian oversight boards for police departments
- Protect Voting Rights by enacting laws that expand automatic voter registration, early voting, and restoring voting rights for individuals who have completed felony sentences
- Promote Inclusive Education by ensuring schools teach a comprehensive and accurate history of racial issues, including slavery, segregation, and civil rights
- Women’s Rights
- Legalize Abortion by voting YES on Amendment 3, and passing legislation legalizing abortion and ensuring safe, legal access to reproductive healthcare across the state
- Expand Reproductive Healthcare Access by increasing access to birth control, prenatal care, and maternal health services, including expanding Medicaid coverage for these services
- Strengthen Equal Pay Laws by enforcing equal pay for equal work and preventing wage disparities based on gender
- Religious Freedom & Protection from Discrimination
- Protect Religious Freedom by strengthening laws ensuring freedom of religious practice without fear of discrimination, especially in workplaces and public accommodations
- Prevent Religious-Based Discrimination by enacting legal protections preventing the use of religion to justify discrimination against others, ensuring that civil rights are not undermined
Worker’s Rights
A solid middle class makes our economy strong.
Missouri should allow workers the right to organize and unionize, have access to fair pay and benefits, and follow safety protocol.
Right to work legislation is wrong for Missouri. Unions help workers through collective bargaining on their behalf, driving fair compensation, monitoring enforcement of labor laws and safety standards, and provision of training and career development.
My priorities to improve worker’s rights for Missourians:
- Strengthen Union Protections by passing laws that explicitly safeguard the right to unionize and prevent retaliation against workers who organize
- Ban Anti-Union Practices by prohibiting employers from engaging in union-busting activities like intimidation or delaying collective bargaining
- Increase the Minimum Wage by implementing a living wage that adjusts annually to match the cost of living, ensuring workers are not left behind by inflation
- Establish Paid Family and Medical Leave by creating a statewide paid family and medical leave program to support workers without forcing them to choose between pay and family care
- Expand Childcare Support by offering tax credits or subsidies for affordable childcare, enabling parents to stay in the workforce
- Increase Funding for on-site OSHA Enforcement by providing more resources to state agencies to enforce workplace safety standards, preventing accidents, and ensuring compliance
- Pass Stronger Workplace Safety Laws by requiring regular safety training, safe equipment, and stricter penalties for violations, particularly in high-risk industries
- Expand Workforce Development Programs by investing in vocational schools, apprenticeships, and training programs to prepare workers for high-paying jobs in growing industries
- Fund Retraining Programs by supporting displaced workers by creating retraining programs that help them transition into new industries and jobs
- Crack Down on Worker Misclassification by passing laws to penalize companies that misclassify workers as independent contractors to avoid providing benefits
- Provide Tax Incentives for Fair Labor Practices: Offer tax credits or grants to businesses that meet standards for fair wages, safety, and employee training.
- Protect Employee Rights for Safe Working Conditions by ensuring that worker safety is a top priority, particularly in industries that are more prone to accidents, such as construction and manufacturing
- Expand Access to Childcare Support by providing subsidies and expanding access to affordable childcare to support working families and allow parents to stay in the workforce
